Cleetus and Hopleaf owner, Michael Roper’s relationship goes back to 1995 when Cleetus moved to Chicago. Over the years they have developed a great relationship revolving around beer, food, and their shared love for Chicago.
Join us for an evening of Stone Brewing beers paired by Cleetus Friedman and the crew at Hopleaf.
Rumvergnügen: Cleetus’s new collaboration with Stone Brewing is an Imperial Dunkelweisen with toasted hazelnuts and black strap molasses, aged in rum barrels.
Over a year ago, Cleetus went out to Stone Brewing at Liberty Station to brew with Kris Ketcham, Steve Wagner, and Steve Gonzalez. after 13 months in rum barrels we are ready to let you all get some of this small batch beer. RumVergnügen will be available in Chicago and at Stone Brewing ONLY. 100 cases of 500ml cork and cage bottles will also be at select shops around the city.
Vergnügen is a word Germans use to describe something pleasurable, so when we got a hold of rum barrels in which to stow away a German-style dark wheat ale, well, the beer named itself.
